Our Mission
At present, we help our neighbors by hosting these monthly meals and offering resources through these events, but our overall goals are much larger. Here at The Garden House, we believe that one of the core things every person needs to thrive is access to nutritious and healthy meals. That is why we aspire to establish an eatery that would be able to serve any customer, regardless of any barrier they might be facing.
Obviously, the first barrier to meals that we all think of is the financial barrier. The Garden House intends to use a combination of grant funding and crowd funding from the local community to offer free meals to our neighbors most in need. Essentially, a $10 donation can make sure someone gets a hearty meal to fuel them throughout the day.
The second barrier that we find many folks are struggling with today is different folks having different dietary needs. Which is why, The Garden house is devoted to creating a menu that ensure there are options for ALL of our neighbors. Gluten free, dairy free, nut free, soy free, you name it. Our founders personally know the struggles of having to fear whether or not your next meal may hurt you, and we want to ensure people have a place to eat that is not only safe for them to eat…but delicious too!
Now, opening that eatery is just Phase One. We have dreams and aspirations that extend to a farm that would supply aforementioned eatery. That farm would also allow for volunteer/employment opportunities. Next, we want to build a transitional living shelter for those experiencing homelessness. We learned a lot from existing shelters like Chattanooga Room in The Inn, and we hope to emulate that for our rural neighbors that need assistance.
Oftentimes, our neighbors here in Soddy Daisy and Sale Creek are forced to commute to other towns for needed assistance and resources. The Garden House hopes to create spaces here in town where our neighbors can find the care they need without having to fret over hitching a ride.
